The football scoreboard clock just hit 00:00.

It is now half time and people will head towards the concession stands, mini games and much more. But the field will not be completely empty for the full half time, here comes the marching band. As the band of 100 people set up for their halftime performance, the only people usually left in the stands to watch are the band parents, alumni and the people who do not want to get up and lose their seat. There is simply no time for a mistake. Before the marching band can take their show to a performance or a competition, it takes practice. The average marching band practices five days a week, three to four hours a day. But we can not forget about band camp, usually known as “Hell Week”. Band camp is on average, two weeks long right before the school year starts.

The FHN Knight Pride marching band had a three week long band camp. Monday through friday, 8AM to 8PM, ten hour days. Long days, but is it worth it? Yes. It very much is.

It gives the member and the section a since of pride in that they have learned over half the show with music and movement and of course, a tan, everyone’s favorite.
