Because during the preoperational stage children between the ages of two (2) and seven (7) years logical thinking ability is not present in the children.

During the preoperational stage, children’s use of symbolic thinking grows, mental reasoning emerges, and the use of concepts increase (Feldman, 2017). This was very interesting to that children perceive objects based on physical appearance and not based on quantity.
