3 idiots

3 idiots, co-written, edited, and directed by Rajkumar Hirani, produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. This movie was based on the novel “Five Point Someone” by Chetan Bhagat. The story in the movie revolves around these three close friends by the names of Farhan Qureshi, Raju Rastogi, Rancchoddas “Rancho” Shyamaldas Chanchad.
The three were all engineering students who share the same room in a hostel at one of the best colleges of India, Imperial College of Engineering. They may all have the same course but the reasons of each of them on why they took it were not the same. Raju and Farhan weren’t at all, interested in engineering but even though, they still took it for their own reasons Farhan, who’s very much interested in wildlife photography but has chosen engineering over photography by the reason to fulfill his father’s wish. Raju, who came from a less fortunate family and just wants to uplift his family fortunes. Rancho, however, is a genius who came from a wealthy family and chose to study engineering for the pure sheer joy of it. Rancho’s passion was clearly in engineering field. Although, he sometimes makes naughty things he still have a good reason and purpose in doing it. Rancho has different studying style, he always criticize his professor named Viru “Virus in his style of teaching in a reason of lacking of understanding in discussing the lesson and making things more complex.
This movie has adequately described each or at least, the usual kinds of students that you will encounter in an engineering course. Their honest and creative way of interpreting an engineering student’s life has remarkably made it a heartfelt and inspiring film to watch. In general, this movie was about following your passion. Teaching us an important life lesson that will greatly affect our future and it is about doing something out of your joy and interest in it.
Choosing a profession on which you are passionate in because those who usually become successful are the fervent people who loves their work and do it for they want it and they have a great interest on what they’re doing. One of the most astonishing teachings that have indeed touched me was that of when Rancho said, “For once, dump your fear, or on your deathbed, you’ll regret it. With a little courage, you could’ve turned your life around.” To me, this quote means a lot and this proved just how short our life is to waste time pretending to like the things we never really wanted. Teaching our hearts to love something is arduous, but following our hearts is beyond ease and pure bliss.
As a student, choosing a career is really hard. Our option may be limited in choosing the course that we want. In the movie, there are certain facts that are true like parents who are forcing their children to study the courses that only their parents have interest on it. The quotation “make your passion a profession” has a big impact to me. I realized that we should follow our heart and do something that we really love. Don’t let our dream, just be a dream. Do something that could make you satisfied. If we really want to pursue something, we should do it all by heart.
