However, if written now it would be “There was a time when no one had heard of Harry Potter and Edward Cullen” the Twilight series has sparked a phenomenon equal to the Harry Potter series. To know exactly why these fictional books have become a vast phenomenon is impossible but gaining thoughts and slight understanding of why helps. And to understand this roaring debate between the fan bases of each book.In order to understand the phenomena of these books, a basic understanding of the plots is necessary. The Harry Potter series is a seven book series about a boy wizard by JK Rowling that started in 1998. At age, eleven he’s introduced to the world of wizardry, something his aunt and uncle had kept secret from him. Even more surprising he finds out he is more famous than he could even imagine in this new world, for he is the “Boy Who Lived”. Harry survived an attack when he was only a baby, with a single lightning bolt scar on his forehead, when his parents died protecting him. This attack was by the greatest dark wizard “He Who Must Not Be Named”, Lord Voldermort, who was a on a power streak across the country, but that night he lost all his powers and fled. Harry goes to school at Hogwarts under the supervision of Albus Dumbledore, the headmaster, and meets his two best friends, Hermione Granger, a muggle born [someone with non-magical parents] who’s brilliant and Ron Wesley, the seconded youngest redhead from a family of nine.
