Throughout the world, marriage is considered as a happy moment in everyone’s life and also can be a meaningful moment which will be celebrated and to be remember. Unfortunately, the practice of child marriage in some of the countries gives no such reason for celebration. Child marriage is one of the biggest human rights violations in the world especially in some of the backward country which many young boys and girls get married before they can reach the legal age for marriage which is at 18 years old. The reason is that normally in most of the countries the minimum legal age for the child marriage is at 18 years old, however some countries allow marriages at below 16 years old especially for the girl children without their consent. As per law, being married before reaching the legal age not only can be considered as illegal but also against the human rights. This shocking act occurring because of certain reason such as in order to get benefitted socially, physically and also to decrease their family’s financial burdens.
Child marriage can be defined as a formal marriage or informal union entered into by an individual before reaching a certain age which is above 18 years old. The legally prescribed marriageable age in some jurisdiction is below 18 years old especially in the case of girls and even though the legal marriage age is set at 18 years old but many of the jurisdiction permit earlier marriage with parent consent or in special circumstances such as teenage pregnancy. Even in some certain countries especially the backward countries in Asian such as India, Bangladesh, Nepal and so on have witnessed most number of child marriages in the year. Central African countries also be considered as the major contributor of child marriage in the world.
