The teacher asks students to work in groups to define the standards of a good academic writing. She shows the standards she’s defined for students to compare and discuss.
She asks students to write an essay about ‘a childhood memory’. She asks students to plan the essay, decide how many paragraphs they are going to write, how they’re going to organize ideas in paragraphs, decide what key vocabulary they are going to use. After using the checklist to assess each other’s writing the teacher gives students a model essay to compare their writing to it and discuss what the similarities and the differences are. She advises students how they can improve their writing.
