The main problem with the Articles of Confederation was that it did not give the federal government enough power compared to the power given to the state government. However, all the while, the Articles of Confederation placed a lot of responsibilities on the federal government. The congress was able to pass laws but was not able to implement them. They were also not allowed to raise funds, even though they were given financial responsibilities. After the war, many debts were in need of being paid off, but due to the restrictions, the federal government had to be dependent on the states for funds. In order to overcome all of these problems the U.S. Constitution was made. By the creation of the U.S. Constitution, powers between the government were distributed rightfully. More power was given to the federal government, who was then allowed to carry out it’s required tasks. The United States Constitution not only established America’s national government, it also created fundamental laws, and guaranteed firm basic rights for its citizens. Without the U.S. Constitution, America would be defenseless from other countries. Due to its creation the United States is now able to run smoother than ever, without having weaknesses inside the government. Without the U.S. Constitution our country’s basis would be weak which would make it open to another tyrannical rule, like it was in the 16th to 17th century under the British rule.
