She once was an innocent girl who wanted to be a nun or pianist, but ended up in an unhappy marriage along with a morphine addiction. This has created a downfall in her character by making her lose touch with reality. The plot of the play focuses on a dysfunctional family trying to deal with their problems such as drug addiction, alcoholism and a life threatening disease through the course of one day. Through her morphine addiction and her need to blame her family for all the bad in her life, she is an instrument of suffering throughout the play.
