The future of Bhutan is in the hands of children. Whether the future be a positive or negative one depends on the children and the education they receive. The education of child is so precious that one has to consider the importance of child education. As educators, one need to be aware as our personal sense of responsibility potentially influences their instructional practices, psychological well-being, and ultimately their learning and performance. Education is a key element that directs one’s life to success. By having knowledge one holds the power to make goals a reality. Teacher are responsible to help goals, such as, learning to read become reality. It is the responsibility of the teacher to give the students the best quality of education in order for the student to be a successful one.
Teachers play vital roles in the lives of the students in their classrooms. Teachers are best known for the role of educating the students that are placed in their care. Beyond that, teachers serve many other roles in the classroom. Teachers set the nature of their classrooms, assemble a warm environment, mentor and nurture students, become role models, protect their students and helps the community at large. The teacher must learn to control five processes of teaching that are making and using knowledge, shaping the school, teaching with strategy, creating interpersonal climate and controlling a teaching personality (Siddiqui, 2011).

Communication Skill: A teacher must communication in easy and simple words so that all the learners can understand easily. We should communicate by lowering our own level at the level of the learners. We should be very clear and concise in our ideas. Words and language with dual meaning or ambiguous meaning should not be used. We should be generous with advice and guidance. Teacher should adjust their teaching style to meet individual needs of students.
Be Prepared: A teacher should enter into the classroom with full preparation and in depth knowledge of the subject. We should plan the sessions and prepare the teaching materials with great care. It should be the responsibility of a teacher to make sure that all handouts, lesson plans, presentation and any other writing is always spellchecked as any spelling mistakes will reflect on the learners. Protective: A teacher must make sure that all students have equal rights and safe learning environment where they are able to build a trusting and honest relationship. Teachers should value all of their learners individually and equally. A teacher should be professional yet sympathetic to the learner’s needs. Teacher should give students an environment to learn on their own without putting them in box and saying…you belong here because of your age, etc.
Wisdom moderator: The educator will mediate learning in a manner which is sensitive to the diverse needs of learners, including those with barriers to learning; construct learning environments that are appropriately contextualized and inspirational; Communicate effectively showing recognition of and respect for the differences of others. In addition an educator will demonstrate sound knowledge of subject content and various principles, strategies and resources appropriate to teaching in a country’s context. The teacher with professional competence which comprises planning of lessons, possessing requisite knowledge of the subject matter, perceiving how pupils learn, executing the proposed plan of activity, encouraging the learner to help himself and testing how much he has learned. This type of teacher would help students in their learning.
Lesson Plans: The planning of a lesson is a key responsibility within a teachers list of challenging task. All the teachers need to make good lesson plan with set specific learning objectives related to the subjects. Teachers have to identify relevant teaching learning materials and appropriate teaching learning strategy which would involve children in their learning. The lesson must have values which can be used to overcome daily issues and teacher must assign work based on the daily experiences, so that they learn better.
Monitor and Assess Learning: assessing the student should be a continuing process throughout the year to check they are gaining the knowledge and appropriate skills to complete the course and that they fully understand what is being taught. Teacher should always supervise or monitor and guide students work, as their work may not be good. A teacher should always encourage students to discuss the chosen topic or method not only with the teacher but also amongst themselves. We should assess various learning styles within the group and identify the methods by which learners can understand better. A teacher should identify student’s weaknesses and should be able to plan a strategy to assist them with it.
Teacher should provide assignments and conduct test frequently to check the learning of the students and to know their weakness. The assignments and the test should be reliable. Teacher should provide criteria for the assigned work to improve their quality of work. Teacher should provide feedback to the students to let them know how they are doing and helps them to correct errors of understanding and fill in gaps in knowledge.
Administrator and Organizer: A teacher has to execute a good amount of organizational and administrative duties in his professional life (Singh, 2011). This requires a high degree of sense of responsibility, knowledge of code of conduct and service rules and their bearing on day to day managerial activities. The educator will make decisions appropriate to the level, manage learning in the classroom, carry out classroom administrative duties efficiently and participate in school decision making structures. These competences will be performed in ways which are democratic, which support learners and colleagues, and which demonstrate responsiveness to changing circumstances and needs.
Keeping record: It is one of our essential duties to maintain records. Academic performance records, such as grades, provides insight about student progress and help parents and teachers make important decisions regarding students’ learning needs. Attendance records help teachers and school staff maintain accountability for student’s safety. Behavior records are useful for parents-teacher conferences and disciplinary meetings. When we keep such records then students will be aware and will focus in studies.
Decision Making: teacher has to make several decisions for facilitating the learning of students in the school. To facilitate the interactive mode of learning of students, the teachers’ decisions is critical in providing learning opportunities appropriate to level and needs of the learners.
Facilitating students learning: with computer-aided education, the students are learning concepts with the help of graphics, animations, story etc. so therefore teachers should be able to make interactive materials for learners which facilitates students learning. Teacher should be able to handle teaching-learning situation. Subject Specialist: The educator will be well grounded in the knowledge, skills, values, principles, methods, and procedures relevant to the discipline, subject, learning area, phase of study, or professional or occupational practice. The educator will have a well-developed understanding of the knowledge appropriate to the specialism. A teacher must know his own depth of learning, have desire, aptitude and ability to communicate, possess a limitless patience and zeal, act to help transform individuals into better and happier leaving models which would help him to assess his own ability as well the arts of his learners (Mujis, 2001).
To conclude teacher plays the main role in inspiring students learning. The role of teacher is not just confined in classroom teaching but also nurturing of the students’ behavior. Teacher also guides students to the right direction despite lots of challenges that they face. A teacher is not only looked up their students but also by the community. The importance of the role played by teacher can never be undermined so it is important for a teacher to perform his role efficiently and rigorously. A teacher should never stop learning so that s/he can keep his or students informed about the changing world and the changing information. Moreover, teacher plays greater role in character building of a student which leads to harmony in the society. The good teacher acts as main crystal in the blooming and nurturing of the young mind. Teachers are at the heart of the education system, and they play a most important role in ensuring quality learning. Nothing can substitute for an effective teacher in a student’s learning.
