Rice

Rice (oryza sativa L.) belongs to the family Panacea, which is followed by many crops such as corn, wheat, barley, sorghum and sugar cane. Asian cultivated rice can be divided into two subspecies indicia and japonica . About 5 of the world’s calories come from three major crops ie. Rice are 23%, wheat 17%, and maize 10% (Khosh, 2003). Rice, one of the world’s most important grain crops for human consumption, is the staple food for more than 3 billion people, many of whom are severely poor (Cantrell and Reeves, 2002). rice is the staple food of Asians, providing that 50 to 80% of daily calorie capacity . It is also the single most important source of employment and for revenue for people (Hossain,1998).
