Reflection is an everyday process

Reflection is an everyday process. A process that reviews, analyses and evaluaes experiences, draws on theoretical concepts and previous learning to provide an action plan for how we will do things in future. We reflect on a range of everyday problems and situations all the time: What went well? What didn’t go well? Why? How do I feel about it? This reflective process happens as feelings, thoughts and emotions without us thinking about it. We might choose to do something differently, or not, as a result of this reflection. Reflection is the art of processing thoughts and feelings about an incident, a meeting, event or experience. This type of reflection may take place when we have had time to stand back from something, or talk it through with someone. In order for me to be able to improve my performance it’s important to use reflective practice as a way of studying my own experiences to improve the way I work. The act of reflection is a great way to increase confidence and become a more proactive and qualified professional. By engaging in reflective practice, I will be able to continuously improve the quality of my performance.
