Perception is a lens in which people experience this world

Perception is a lens in which people experience this world, each of us growing through the same earth yet experiencing it a little different. Just as we go through life in different ways, we all interpret information in different ways, reading the same exact words yet taking information from a passage that we feel as though has spoken to us. This is especially true when reading a piece of literature and Margret Atwood’s literature left more than enough room for readers to diver deeper, in her short metafiction piece ‘Happy Endings’. The following interpretation of this story is an attempt to explain how Atwood uses literary devices such as repetition, symbolism, and tone shift in attempt to allude the reader to the meaning of life. Atwood also touches on themes of domesticity, welfare, and success as well as playfully the attributes to writing a good story.
