OSIRIS-REx was formed. As well the creation/source

OSIRIS-REx
The OSIRIS-REx is a NASA asteroid study and sample return mission. The OSIRIS-REx is an acronym for Origins, Spectral, interpretation, resource, identification, security, regolith, explorer. The OSIRIS-REx is being used to study the asteroids 101995 Bennu. And there are many interesting facts we can learn from this piece of advanced space science technology.
The OSIRIS-REx project is made by NASA collaborating with the CSA, (Canadian Space Agency) with the help of some other institutions. The specific NASA branch overlooking engineering and navigation is NASA’s Goddard space flight center, with the University of Arizona providing the principle science. The OSIRIS-REx was built to scan and collect a sample of asteroid 101995 Bennu because it is has a 1 in 2,700 chance of impacting earth in the late 22nd century. Also if successful the OSIRIS-REX will help understand how the solar system was formed. As well the creation/source of organic life on earth.
The OSIRIS-REx was built by Lockheed Martin Space Systems, with the engineering by NASA. The cost of the project was approximately $800 million US not including the launch vehicle which was about $1835 million US. The dimensions of the OSIRIS-REx are 2.44 × 2.44 × 3.15 m (8 × 8 × 10.33 ft). The OSIRIS-REx is equipped with solar panels for fuel, and a laser to scan and analyze the asteroid. The OSIRIS-REx is also has a lot more equipment such as. SCAMS OSIRIS-REx Camera Suite, OTES OSIRIS-REx Thermal Emission Spectrometer ,OVIRS OSIRIS-REx Visible and Infrared Spectrometer ,REXIS Regolith X-ray Imaging Spectrometer, TAGSAM
This paragraph talks about the deployment of the OSIRIS-REx. The OSIRIS-REx was sent to space on September the 8th, 2016. It is still heading to its target, the asteroid 101955 Bennu. It’s planned to return to earth on September 24, 2023. Since it has not returned to earth yet it has no fees to keep it running.
There are many benefits of the OSIRIS-REx. The OSIRIS-REx will help map the global properties, chemistry, and mineralogy of a primitive carbonaceous asteroid. We will be able to document the texture, morphology, geochemistry, and spectral properties of the regolith at the sampling site in situ at scales down to millimeters. Measure the Yarkovsky effect ( the thermal force on the object). The OSIRIS-REx will characterize the integrated global properties of a primitive carbonaceous asteroid. The OSIRIS-REx hasn’t benefited humankind since it hasn’t come back to earth yet, but it has taken some pictures of Earth and its moon.
I believe that the OSIRIS-REx hasn’t got the chance to anything really important yet, but I think in the future the OSIRIS-REx could be very useful to help us better understand the universe. I think we should continue to make and use similar vehicles. NASA has already talked about an OSIRIS-REx 2 in 2013. The OSIRIS-REx is not just good at collecting samples it can also so take pictures, measure, and map a lot of different asteroids to help humankind better understand how life on our planet was created.
To sum it up, the OSIRIS-REx (Origins, Spectral, interpretation, resource, identification, security, regolith, explorer.) is an sample and return mission to 101995 Bennu. The OSIRIS-REx will help us understand the creation of the life on earth. It costed approximately $800 million US not including the launch vehicle which was about $1835 million US.
