“On the sidewalk bleeding”, written by Evan Hunter, is about a 16 year old boy named Andy that is part of a gang called the Royals. He gets murdered in a dark alley by rival gang members. An important character within the text is Andy, because throughout the short story Andy shows the importance of self belonging, which is to show him what’s it like to be involved with someone or something. Andy also shows the importance of identity, because Andy always wanted to be recognized and heard easily by other people, and the importance of stereotypes because that is the way he gets perceived by other characters.
