Even though asbestos is banned in the UK from any construction use, there still exists an increasing incident of mesothelioma as it takes 30-40 years to develop. There are four primary types of mesothelioma based on the location where a tumor first develops: pleural (lungs), peritoneal (abdomen), pericardial (heart), and testicular. In addition, mesothelioma can be categorized based on cell type – epithelioid, sarcomatoid, or biphasic – and according to malignancy. A range of treatments are available. Cisplatin is chemotherapy drug that is used in treating mesothelioma. It works by cross-linking DNA and altering the structure. In this research, the purpose is to provide a thorough understanding of the physicochemical properties of cisplatin and to examine its molecular mechanisms of action in targeting the tumor cells. It doesn’t cover the ADME of the drug.
