The human population will increase by 1 billion people in the next decade 1. The ever growing human population affects everyone around the world as it results in a strain on the environment 2.
In order to better plan for the future, it is imperative that we know and understand the factors which affect population growth. This dissertation aims to explain the respective roles that science, technology and society (STS) play in the problem of population explosion. It will mainly focus on the World’s population and that of South Africa.
