S. Senate and in November, either Beto O’ Rourke, or Ted Cruz will obtain it. Beto O’ Rourke is the Democratic Representative who is currently a U.

S. House member who represents the Texas’ 16th Congressional District. Prior to this, O’ Rourke was a City Council member of the city in which he was born in, El Paso. Before getting into politics, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in English from Columbia University and worked at a web technology company in Manhattan. Ted Cruz is the Republican Representative who is currently the U.

S. Senate member looking to retain his spot. After graduating high school as a valedictorian, he got a bachelor’s degree in Public Policy and then went to Harvard to get his Juris Doctor Degree. Immediately after finishing college in 1995, Cruz began to work his way up the political ladder and has even ran for presidency in 2016. He had confidence in his race to become the president of the United States after the support that made him achieve his current position in the U.S. Senate that began in 2012.

Ted Cruz dropped out of the presidential race after losing the Indiana Primary to Donald Trump, which is why he is looking to keep his current position. Since they both come from different backgrounds and are representing two completely different political parties, they each have greatly opposing views. The challenger for the position, Beto O’ Rourke, wants to help the economy by promoting competition and enforcing regulations on the industry and businesses that will protect the consumers. He also wants to lower unemployment rates by putting money into programs for training.

O’ Rourke would like to financially support low income schools and communities with federal aid because. Also, for education he would like there to be fewer tests that are difficult without a real purpose. To improve healthcare, he supports the idea of having an additional and optional plan in a strengthened Obamacare that would allow people in the program to buy into a plan ran by the government that would be similar to Medicare. He wants there to be universal coverage in one way or another. Beto O’ Rourke strongly disagrees with Trump’s border wall plan and would like there to be an easier way to obtain citizenship for children of immigrants who crossed the border with their parents. Not only does he disagree with Trump’s wall plan, he also disagrees with Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Climate Accords, which support a clean environment.

He also promotes renewable energy and would like to protect fossil fuel energy sources. Ted Cruz has views almost completely different from Beto O’ Rourke. Ted Cruz believes in reforming Social Security by making the retirement age higher and allowing younger people to invest parts of their Social Security balance into a 401k type of plan. He would also like to lower taxes similar to the way Donald Trump would, but with a flat tax. Cruz insists that there should be no reason for the U.S.

Department of Education to set the curriculum in schools. He also wants parents to have more money to provide for tuition by cutting local school taxes. Cruz is passionately against Obamacare and has even attempted to repeal it. He instead wants there to be health insurance that is available nationwide. He supports Trump’s wall plan but agrees with O’ Rourke in that there should be a way to obtain citizenship for children that came here illegally.

Cruz states that he supported Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Climate Accords because he believes it will help Texas by making gas prices more affordable. He also wants there to be more off-shore drilling and wants to expand Texas energy exports. When it comes to money, both candidates have received a lot to support each of their campaign. Beto O’ Rourke has received over $22 million, which has mainly come from colleges and organizations. Universities such as Harvard, Stanford, and University of Texas are among the top contributors, but his political party and law firms have provided him with over $2 million overall. Since the Senate is split into 100 seats and 49 are democratic, both parties are making a big financial push to ensure their beliefs remain secure. Ted Cruz has also raised over $22 million, but his contributors are very different to O’ Rourke’s.

Cruz’s top contributors are from Conservative groups and banks such as the Woodforest Financial Group. When it comes to organizations and people, he mainly is financially supported by retired people and financial corporations such as real estate, in which he is pulling in over $3 million. After observing who financially supports each candidate, it is clear to see that passionate education supporters are for O’ Rourke and wealthy and elderly people support Ted Cruz. Generally, when addressing Ted Cruz and Beto O’ Rourke, the media doesn’t attempt to have a bias, but a few news outlets do.

The Washington Post directly shames O’ Rourke for lying about a drunk driving incident he had in 1998, even giving him a “Pinocchio test” and giving him 4 out of 5 on their lying meter. On the other hand, The Rolling Stone states that Ted Cruz is exploiting the death of a black man who was killed by a police officer in Dallas to entice people to vote for him. Besides articles such as these, news outlets will just post who they believe is leading the race, and what was said during their first debate. Media has a big influence on who people will vote for so some of these articles may be the reason this close race will be decided. The race between Ted Cruz and Beto O’ Rourke is very important and will have an influence on every person in Texas for the next few years.

Texas could either continue to be a strong Republican state or emerge to become a Democratic state when it is all said and done by November 6th. This future of this state is dependent upon what happens over the next few days so it is important that people make the right decision.
