Feedback is vital when improving own practise. It allows you to identify your strengths and weaknesses. Being able to identify these things means that, you can work on your own personal development plan by making goals and targets to improve these things. Having feedback to find out where you are going wrong, means that you won’t be making that same mistake again. If you don’t have that feedback then you’ll keep making the same mistakes and the consequences could be awful. If an individual gives me feedback and tells me how to do something in a certain way. When I manage to get it right, then receive praise for it, it builds me with confidence and reassurance.
Good feedback will mean that I am improving my skills and feel encourage to keep doing the best that I can do. I know personally that good feedback has helped me feel more comfortable at what I am doing. It has also opened my eyes to learning and training in new things because other people thought I was capable, they recommended trainings etc which they thought would be beneficial to me. Which has enabled me to find out from trainer and other individual’s in different care environment how they would do things. It has helped me to develop different ways of thinking and improve the way I work.
