What is revealed about human nature (from Genesis 1-2)?
In Genesis 1-2, information related to the creation of humans is revealed and the reason for humans to be created. One of the reasons why human beings were created is to take care of all what God has created while at the same time enjoying God’s creation (Shuster, 2013). In these two verses, information on how the first human being who was Adam was created is presented. Adam was given authority and power over all what God had created as well as takes care of God’s creation, which included naming all animals, which God had created (Genesis 2:15, English Standard Version). The second human being who is a woman was also created in the second verse who came from man. Her name was Eve and was the companion to Adam to help him in his responsibilities, which God had given Adam (Genesis 2:22). In Genesis 1-2, there is clear information on the relationship between all what God had created with human beings. This reveals that human nature is to obey God in different perspectives, which was the main reason for the creation of the first human being (Shuster, 2013).
What are the consequences of the fall for human nature (from Genesis 3)?
In Genesis 3, the Word of God shows how human kind destroyed the relationship, which he had with God through disobedience. This was after the serpent convinced Eve to disobey God by eating from the tree, which was in the middle of the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3). This tree was the tree of knowledge of good and evil, which God had instructed Adam and Eve not to eat from it. The serpent first convinced Eve who gave Adam the fruit from the forbidden tree (Shuster, 2013). This led to God chasing them from the Garden of Eden and punishing them, which is evident to date. Eve was punished with painful child bearing while Adam would experience a hard process in cultivating the land to grow food (Genesis 3: 18) This changed the original plan of God where man would enjoy God’s provision without breaking a sweat. Also included in the punishment is death where man would now not live forever as God had intended and would eventually die (Genesis 3: 19).
What is revealed about human purpose from the readings? What does it mean for humans to flourish, in other words to achieve spiritual, emotional, and mental well-being?
God initial intentions involved making man in his own image where man would have authority over everything, which God had created which was his human purpose. God had intended that man would follow his commands and enjoy all that God had given him (Shuster, 2013). However, this later changed to what is now evident after the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, which led to God punishing man for his disobedience. God did not intend to bring any harm to man as he had created everything for man and all that man was to do was obey his commands (Shuster, 2013). Everything that God had created was subject to man, which was an aspect of power, and authority, which God had given to man. Man knew that it would be wrong if he ate the fruit of the forbidden tree. However, due to curiosity, man fell into temptation breaking God’s commands, which brought sin into the world (Shuster, 2013). Human beings were created to have life. However, due to the sin of breaking God’s word, death was brought upon the earth and to all human kind. The emotional aspect in human beings negatively affects humans in their obedience to God’s word. For human beings to flourish in the different aspects, it is important to obey God’s word regardless of how we feel it may impact us (Shuster, 2013).
How might these questions about human nature, purpose, and flourishing be answered by those holding a pantheistic or atheistic (choose one) worldview?
There are different perspectives on human nature, purpose, and flourishing based on one’s beliefs. On an atheist perspective, atheists do not view God as the creator of human beings as they believe that there is no God (Crane, 2017). Atheists believe in science where they believe that human beings are as a result of evolution from monkeys. Since they do not believe in God, they live their lives freely without a purpose and never flourish, as they do not believe in the spiritual aspect of human beings, which is important in the flourishing of human beings (Crane, 2017).
PART TWO: THE FALL – NOW
Consider how the fall and humanity’s exposure to good and evil are seen in the way some people treat themselves and others in dehumanizing ways today (examples: abuse, addiction, bullying, domestic violence, eating disorders, human trafficking, pornography, poverty, racism, vandalism, etc.).

Choose one act of dehumanization and write the script for a short TV public service announcement in 350-650 words. Use at least two different sources from the GCU Library cited in the text and listed below in the list of references. Include the following:
Highlight how the act of dehumanization is evident in the world today.

Human trafficking
(Show a video of human slaves being forced to work hard jobs) Human trafficking has been on the rise with many individuals being involved in this act as a way of making money by selling humans to different parts of the world (McBane, 2014). Human trafficking has negative consequences on the victims, which may include health issues, which may involve physical as well as emotional health issues. (Negative effects can be highlighted to stress on the negative effects associated with human trafficking). This act is dehumanizing as it objectifies both men and women degrading their value (McBane, 2014). Human trafficking devalues humans and takes away the freedom, which God intends humans to have as they live on this earth. This act also involves the use of women foe sexual fulfillment, which depicts women as instruments of satisfying men’s pleasure (McBane, 2014).
Human trafficking negatively impacts human relationships, individual’s health, and moral values with the act continuing to spread becoming a challenge to address (McBane, 2014). Addressing human trafficking can be achieved by implementing certain measures, which are meant to prevent and reduce this act from its continuity, which will decrease the number of victims affected by this act (McBane, 2014). One of the methods includes health education, which includes educating individuals who at a high risk of becoming victims of human trafficking on measures to implement to prevent this act from happening to them (McBane, 2014). A second measure would be using religion to help individuals to abstain from such acts since this is not the original intend of God in creating humans (McBane, 2014).
Human trafficking has been largely been contributed by poverty where poor individuals are promised luxurious jobs in different regions of the world only to find out that it was a trap meant to transport them to the countries which have a high demand for human slaves (Keefe, 2017). These individuals are then sold as slaves to serve wealthy individuals. The media has also contributed to human trafficking where movies depict the rich individuals being served by other individuals (Keefe, 2017). There were over 8,000 cases of human trafficking in 2016, which was an increase from 5961 cases in 2015. A majority of these cases involved sex and labor trafficking. Most individuals have resulted in indulging in casual sex after being used as sex slaves, which led to the individuals losing their self worth (Keefe, 2017).
Human trafficking has also resulted in rape, which has negative consequences on the victims. A God-centered worldview may contribute to a solution by giving hope to the victims of this act and helping them to understand that God still loves them (McBane, 2014). This can also include education on the importance of avoiding this act where perpetrators are taught on God’s expectations on how we should treat each other and hope through God’s forgiveness of sins (McBane, 2014). This can be achieved by instilling the right moral principles in individuals from a young age, which is important in building a strong moral foundation. It is also important for believers to pray for the world for God to help those who have been victims of human trafficking as well as change for the perpetrators of this dehumanizing act (McBane, 2014). Let us all unite in saying ”NO” to human trafficking (This should be bold and be extended on the screen display for everyone to grasp the reason for the public service announcement).
