Every of the cost. Definition of Utilitarianism”Utilitarianism,

Every day some 20,000 children die prematurely from poverty related causes, mostly treatable diseases.” My personal opinion on this statement is most closely described by:A.

Who cares? B. It’s hard to say it, but given the rising human population, perhaps this is a blessing in disguise for the human species as a whole. C. It’s hard to say it, but this just means less people competing with me for scarce opportunities and resources.

D. This is morally wrong, but practically, I think that it would cost too much money to solve. E. It is morally unacceptable for a single child to die of a preventable disease and we should collectively fix this irrespective of the cost. Definition of Utilitarianism”Utilitarianism, at its most basic, states that something is moral, or good when it produces the greatest amount of good for the greatest number of people.

It’s a theory of normative ethics that asks whether a specific action is good or bad, moral or immoralWhat is most likely utilitarian option? Chosen option B It’s hard to say it, but given the rising human population, perhaps this is a blessing in disguise for the human species as a whole. And why do you say this? Over population is affecting the whole world as it’s depleting everyone’s available resources for the future by putting pressure on resources such as water, food and energy. According to research the world’s population has experienced continuous growth and is estimated at 7.4 billion already at its carrying capacity and if not reduced by 2050 with 8.

9 billion people, the earth will be carrying far more than it can possible handle and will be likely subjected to starvation, pollution and diseases. So Imagine if 20 000 children were saved on a daily basis within a week will have more than 100 000 children and will be over populated, already our country has high rate of youth unemployment where you’ll find children engaging in negative things such as drugs; crime and unplanned pregnancies. What do you feel about this option?I feel like its moral wrong for children to suffer for their parents choices as there are ways to prevent pregnancies in clinic such as contraceptive and condoms however we still have woman that do not want to take precautions the only solution to this is to encourage a culture of learning and good education (especially for women in rural areas) where we offer variety of contraception and how to use them. What option did you chose?I chose option E It is morally unacceptable for a single child to die of a preventable disease and we should collectively fix this irrespective of the cost”.

What do you think your option is the correct one?I feel that active steps should be taken to fix this problem. The government needs ensure that an adequate budget is in place for children to have access to the right treatment and also ensure that strategies put in place are implemented since they did not work in the past. Children cannot die because of the poor background they come from; it is a shame to know, to read and to hear about the number of children who die simply from diseases that can be preventable
