Mark Twain
On November 20, 1835, Mark Twain was born in Florida, Missouri. He changed his
name from Samuel Langhorne Clemens. He got married in February 1870. They had children:
Susy, Clara, and Jeon. His father passed away when he was just eleven years old. He had to work
for his family. His all work influenced his life and writing stories. He became writer, printer,
miner, newspaper columnist, etc. After the work, he usually goes to the public libraries to study
and build extensive knowledge. While he was on a voyage, Horace E. Bixby suggested him to be
a steamboat pilot which earn much money and require knowledge of steamboat. So he could
study of Mississippi for more than two years before get license of steamboat pilot. He also gets
his pen name, Mark Twain which means the leadsman of riverboat cry for measure river depth
two fathoms that is enough deep to move safe for most boats. He worked with his brother Henry
on the river. On 1858, Henry was killed by explode the steamboat. Before month earlier, He had
dreamed this death in detailed. That motivated him to interest in parapsychology.
He wrote 28 books and 36 short stories during his life. His most famous books, The
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is still required reading in schools. His first book “The
celebrated jumping frog of Calaveras County,” was published on 1865, becomes a bestseller.
“The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” was his major work. The book described colorful aspects
of people and place, Mississippi river. Huckleberry Finn lives with Miss Watson, one day his
drunken father, Pap kidnapped and locks Huck in the cabin. He drunk and bit Huck. Huck

and introduced her to his friend who works in her college. He also opposed imperialism,
colonialism, racism, discrimination of women. Many people still respect and recognize his
