A Christmas Carol By Charles Dickens
In this essay I intend to write about Ebenezer Scrooge who is the keycharacter of the astonishing novel written by Charles Dickens one ofgreatest English novelist of he Victorian period. He wrote andpublished ‘a Christmas carol’ in 1843. Charles Dickens’s also wellknow stories such as ‘Oliver twist’.
Dickens was born on the 2nd February 1812 in London port Hampshire. Hemoved from his birth place to Chatham where he received littleeducation, he was however withdrawn from school at the age of 15 andwork manually in a factory, then worked as a clerk in a solicitorsoffice.
IntroductionA Christmas carol, set in Victorian England, Dickens paints a pictureof a man who has been ruined by life’s cruel twists and turns; anunfortunate childhood begetting an even more wretched adulthood. Hisonly happiness is in his vast fortune, which he has accumulated byalienating every other person in London, or so it seems. His deceasedbusiness partner, Jacob Marley, appears to him in a dream and warnshim that three spirits will visit him Christmas Eve. In a trio ofvisitations, Scrooge is allowed to see his past, present and future;finally bringing him to the realization of what he is; a miserable,unhappy man whose only wish is to make the rest of the world as sad ashe’s.

…hed household, and awe at the people he sees that are happy eventhough they are poor. He begins to pity himself a little more becausehe sees how happy others are. He is beginning to repent, especiallywhen he asks if Tim will live. When he is shown Ignorance and Want,he begins to realize how harsh he has been and is already beginning tochange his thinking. He shows sympathy for the spirit as it dies andthe children as they are, well ignorant and starving. However whenthe third ghost appears he makes his final transformation when he seesthat Tim has died due to his neglect, and there is no one there whenhe dies except for those who steal from him. In Stave 5 he actuallymakes due on his transformation be repenting and redeems himself byhis actions- he is a better uncle and a better master and a symbol ofcharity and good for the rest of his life.
