During the weekend my mother spends most of her time in the kitchen

During the weekend my mother spends most of her time in the kitchen. You can walk into the kitchen on a Saturday morning and smell the warm bread, cookies, cake, and etc. baking in the oven. She learned how to bake from my grandmother, but she learned how to decorate pastries on her own, which she spends hours doing. It satisfies her when people like the pastries she bakes. When baking she uses skill and creative imagination with every pastry she makes. The most common things she bakes are cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and some secret family recipes. Every time she bakes something new, she tries to add her own twist to it. She likes the idea that something as small as a cupcake can brighten someone’s day or that something as simple as a cake can bring people together when celebrating a special occasion.

Everyone’s baking process is different, but hers is really simple and long. She starts off by going to the kitchen and taking her recipe book out of a drawer. Then finds the recipe she is going to make and reads through the ingredients she is going to need. After that, she opens the refrigerator to see if she has all the ingredients or needs to go buy some. Finally, she takes out all the tools she will use a mixing bowl, measuring cups, spoons, wire wiske, cake pan, and a mixer. When she makes a cake some of the ingredients she will use are 3 cups of flour, 4 teaspoons of baking powder, 3 ½ tablespoons of butter, a grater for the orange peels, 2 teaspoons of Mexican vanilla blend, 6 eggs, 1 ½ cups of sugar, and milk.
Then she starts with the preparation. She puts the butter in the mixing bowl and mixes it with the mixer, adding small amounts of sugar as it goes. After, she adds 6 eggs and small amounts of flour and a little vanilla blend. Once all that is mixed she preheats the oven at 350 degrees. Then she gets the cake pan and puts butter on a napkin and spreads it all over the pan before sprinkling some flour over the butter. This is so the cake does not stick to the pan while it is baking. She puts the mixture in the cake pan and carefully places it in the oven for about 30 – 40 minutes. Before taking it out of the oven she pokes it with a toothpick, if the toothpick comes out clean, it means the cake is ready, if it does not, then she leaves the cake in the oven for a few more minutes.
While she waits for the cake to cool down she makes the whipped cream to decorate it. In a pan she puts sugar and heats it on the stove until it turns into liquid. Then adds some lemon juice to it. In another, bowl she puts egg whites and uses the mixer until it turns into a foamy texture and adds the mixture of sugar and lemon juice little by little, but keeps mixing it. She then gets a spoon to taste it and see if the texture and flavor are right or if she needs to add something else. Then she adds food coloring to the whipped cream, puts the cake on a rotating stand and takes hours decorating it.
The art of baking allows people to get creative and express themselves. It impacts the world because you can learn different techniques, processes, and explore different flavors. You create things from scratch and mix all these ingredients to make something that smells and tastes really good. It can get messy when baking, but it is something that many enjoy doing you can try many recipes and get creative in the decorating process which can be fun. Anyone can bake you do not have to be a professional to bake something simple. Pastries and food are ways we can connect with others and try new things. Not only does baking make you happy, but the ones who try the pastries as well. The message of making others happy with something small such as delicious treats affects the world because it unites cultures and people on special occasions.

In conclusion, my mom enjoys spending her free time baking for hours. The process is very simple, but long. Sharing her pastries with others makes her happy especially when they like what she baked. Her favorite part of all is putting a smile on people’s faces and bringing them together on special occasions with her delicious treats.
