During the 17th century there was mainly two types of government that slowly emerged in France and England. Both governments, absolutism and constitutionalism, had an impact on philosophers, churches, and other leaders that soon had a later influence on modern Europe and the Americas. The absolute monarchy in France was developed by the nobles and kings and their focus on divine right, the idea that a king was placed on the throne by God, and therefore owed his authority to no one. In contrast, Europe had developed in the hands of the wealthy landowners and businessmen trying to get rid of the idea of central concentration of political power.
