• Creation/Primeval History
Creation began with God creating all things, the heavens and earth, the fish in the sea, birds in the sky and the animals among the ground. God enjoyed all of His creation and saw that it was good (Genesis 1:1-25). The bible says it was the sixth day when God said “let us make man in our image” (Genesis 1:26). God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to watch over it (Genesis 2:15). God then said “It is not good for the man to be alone” (Genesis 2:18), so God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep and created woman from mans’ rib (Genesis 2:21-22). This was the birth of Adam and Eve. God had intended for them to live in the Garden of Eden but they allowed themselves to be deceived. They were deceived by the serpent tempting them to eat the fruit of the tree God had commanded them not to eat (Genesis 3:1-7). This brought sin into the world. They were cursed and forced to leave the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:16 – 24). Adam and Eve then birthed two sons, one named Cain and the other named Able (Genesis 4:1-2). Able was a Sheppard who had obtained favor with the Lord, while Cain cultivated the grounds. Cain was jealous of his brother Able, so he suggested they go out into the fields. Cain then attacked his brother, which resulted in the death of Able (Genesis 4:8). This was the first murder. If you fast forward you will find that God had become very displeased with the human race and planned to destroy the earth by the way of a flood (Genesis 6:17). Noah was instructed to build an ark that would hold one pair of every creature. (Genesis 7:17) and (Genesis 8:6) say that it rained for 40 days, causing a flood that lasted 150 days. Following the Great Flood, a group of people migrated to the east. They arrived at the land of Shinar, where they decided to construct a capital with a tower “with its top reaching up the heavens. This occurred around 2200 BC. God was offended by this statement, so he confused their languages so that they could not understand each other.

• The Patriarchal Period
The Patriarchal period began with Abram whose name had come to be Abraham. He was born in 2166 BC. The name Abram means “Exalted Father”. In the year 2066 BC Abraham had a son named Isaac. God then tested Abram on his obedience. God told Abram to sacrifice his son Isaac on a mountain in the land of Moriah (Genesis 22:2). Abram did as God told him, He took his son to the land of Moriah. He had done everything God ask of him. He proceeded to sacrifice Isaac when an angel of the Lord appeared telling him to stop. God had provided a sacrifice so that Isaac wouldn’t have to be killed (Genesis 22:9-13). God was pleased with Abram and changed his name to Abraham meaning father of a Multitude. God made a covenant with him promising countless descendants (Genesis 17:-2). God had not only promised countless descendants but land as well. He promise to Abraham and his descendants the land of Canaan where he resided as a foreigner (Genesis 17:8). Abraham lived for 175 years, and he died at a ripe old age, having lived a long and satisfying life (Genesis 25:7-8). Isaac went on to have sons of his own. One named Jacob and the other named Esau. Jacob and Esau were twins born in the year of 2006 BC (Genesis 25:24-26). Esau had favor with his father Isaac as did Jacob did with their mother Rebekah. Esau was the first to come out which made him the oldest, and being the oldest meant you received the birth right. Jacob had always envied his brother and desired to have the birth right as his own. The bible even states that they struggled in the womb (Genesis 25:22).
