DigiPen Institute of Technology and the Harry Potter Series Essay examples

From an outside viewpoint in their respective realities, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series and DigiPen Institute of Technology seem like schools in which students enrolled will have a strong education and be prepared for their future at the point of graduation. However, in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the fifth installment of Rowling’s series, Hogwarts begins to crumble within its own walls from corrupt politics influencing its educational standards and incoming media (Rowling 2003). In recent events, the Fine Art of Production Animation program at DigiPen has similarly been facing inside issues with administrative interference with preset curriculums and the discrepancy between what is happening within the school and how the school is being portrayed in the media. Parallels may be drawn between the two and while the crisis may have been resolved in the Harry Potter universe, DigiPen artists are still struggling. The acts of the students of Hogwarts may be the solution DigiPen students are searching for. This essay will explore the similarities of issues and character roles present in both worlds and whether the route taken by Hogwarts students may be applicable to DigiPen’s.

In the Harry Potter series, most events take place at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (Hogwarts). The school houses roughly a thousand students (Rowling 2000) and is the chief magic school for the English-speaking wizards and witches of Europe.
