D3Assess the limitations of the data collected and justify research planning process improvements in light of the work undertaken.SufficiencyIn this part of the assignment I will be assessing whether or not there were any limitations which meant I could not carry out my research to the best of my ability. In my research I did collect enough data I asked 20 people in the sixth from a series of open and closed questions which meant I was able to retrieve valuable information to help me with my research and present my overall findings. I asked a total of 15 questions which meant that generally lots of topics were covered and that everything that I need to know regarding water bottles were answered which then I could analyze on. 20 respondents at the end of the questionnaire was more than enough as I could ask a variety of people from different backgrounds and gender which meant my result were sufficient.

AccuracyAssessing weather my research was accurate I used a sampling method which meant my selection of respondents were mixed and fair. For my questionnaire I will use Probability Sampling. This type of sampling uses random methods to ensure that all of the different types of people in the area of the population have an equal chance compared to others of being voted to take part. The method of probability sampling I will use for my questionnaire is Stratified sampling. This is when a whole group is divided into subgroups according to its makeup.

Businesses categories them according to ethnicity, gender or age. When all of this is completed it will use a method of random sampling when someone is chosen at random like a pulling a name out of a hat. I personally think I used the right sampling method as it helped me avoid bias or preferably so my answers were as accurate as possible. I think I did capture the right audience because I was in the sixth form area when I handed out the questions and my aim was to ask teenagers from different backgrounds and I think I did that to the best of my ability.

However, honesty was a big issue when answering the questions because at the time I asked the questions it was lunch time and people could not wait until the questions were over because they wanted to carry on chatting and playing with their friends. BiasMy sample method was actually Stratified so any form of bias were avoided because it involves splitting people from gender and ethnicity to ensure same type of people are not picked again and again which will create a bias series of answers. Some of my questions that were asked were bias because they had no option but to choose an answer. For example when asked “what size bottle do you prefer” respondents had to give an answer of the four and there was no box that indicated if they don’t drink water.

SubjectivityMy personal judgement has not affected how I interpret the answers this is because when retrieving my answers from the questions I did not change anything or tried to even change someone’s mind when they put down an answer. However, when asking questions on some cases because I like water so much I gave respondents no other choice but to choose an answer which may not represent their own opinions. For example, “How much would you pay for a bottle of water”. Respondents must choose a value and cannot choose anything else. Also, if someone has put down that they don’t enjoy water from my judgement I would think that they chose any odd answer, so they get rid of the questionnaire as soon as possible. I personally think that my research of water bottles was accurate because of the sampling method and many other factors which help me build a strong and fair piece of research.

Before doing my research is set out 5 clear SMART objectives to make me stay on track and help me keep on the right lines to make sure I do not go off track.

I also retrieved mixed opinions on these questions I asked.3 things I would change if I done this piece of research again.I would ask the questions during tutor and not lunch time.I would not limit the amount of questions I hand out.I would offer alternatives questions if people did not people comfortable answering the questions or give them a chance to skip it If they feel it does not apply to them.
